Video Games with Joe Moeller

Joe Moeller has been working as an independent voice and casting director for the last decade, focusing mostly on interactive projects and some anime here and there.

He came out to LA in 2004 because he thought he wanted to be a sound designer. His first gig was working as an intern taking session notes for the VO for Everquest 2, an MMORPG, featuring over 250 performers. Joe decided he liked working with actors a lot more than making sound effects and eventually made his way to Studiopolis, where he started as a PA and worked his way up to a Production Manager, primarily on video games.

His first creative endeavor was a casting and production partnership with Jack Fletcher, legendary voice director of Kiki’s Delivery Service, The Animatrix and multiple entries in Final Fantasy.

Eventually Joe started voice directing full time and was hired by Telltale Games to build out and run their dialogue department. At Telltale his credits included Batman: The Enemy Within, Guardians of the Galaxy, an unreleased Stranger Things project, and The Walking Dead: The Final Season. After Telltale’s sudden closure in late 2018, Joe was hired by Skybound Games to finish The Walking Dead and then returned to LA to work as a full-time freelance voice director.

Some of his most recent credits include Armored Core 6, Tiger and Bunny, Star Trek: Resurgence, Hellboy: Web of Wyrd and various games set in the Naruto universe.

Joe loves being in the studio and spends a lot of time obsessing over processes and logistical minutia that can make a session feel more inviting and cohesive. He thinks having a working knowledge of recording and studio tools makes for better actors and directors and that everyone from the actor to the engineer to the PA should feel ownership over their part in the session. He lives in Valley Village with his family and cats, and you can often find him napping in the studio’s spare iso booth during his lunch break.
